I saw a post the other day on social media that said we've just survived the darkest weeks of the year. I didn't think of it but with the longer light recently, I do notice an uplift in spirits.

I don't mind and actually enjoy the winter months. It's a time to slow down a bit with the dark, cozy nights. Work on projects, do some organizing and planning, enjoy some winter adventures.

I'm starting to think about what I might grow in my garden this year, but it's a wee bit early to do much. It's been a short winter, but I'll bet we have another winter storm or two before we swap out our gear from skates and skis to gators and windbreakers.

I hope your holidays were enjoyable. We have Christmas for so long here, it's a welcome relief to have our beautiful Lodge back to its shining self.

While we all plan for the upcoming tourist season, it's nice for locals to enjoy our town and spending time together. I'm grateful to live in a community that supports artists of all sorts from knots to beads to music and paint and I'm excited to share that I will be offering a paint night once a month at the Jasper Legion as our locally favoured artist, Karly Macdonald moved out of province last month.

I look forward to leading members of our community to create something that is uniquely theirs and something that they feel good about. I've been leading classes for a couple of years now and I really enjoy everyone's reactions when we take a look at the final results. The happy smiles are infectious and I am beyond tickled to have helped create that joy.

I'm working on the schedule details but our first class offering will be February 8th at 7:00 pm. We will paint for about two hours. The bar and kitchen is available for anyone who wishes to purchase food or beverages. Pricing is $40 per person and you can sign up on my website here: https://www.paintwithlisa.com/classes

If you are in Jasper, I hope to see you there and stay tuned for updates on dates and paintings for the coming months. If there is something you would like to paint, please don't hesitate to submit suggestions.

Your thoughts, suggestions or feedback are welcome!
